Today’s post is written by one of my absolute favorite blogger friends, Joelle Angel of My Sunday Dress. So blessed to know this awesome woman of God and have known her for almost 2.5 years now (#timeflowsby). When I started my blog Joelle was one of the first people to jump on board and help me, support me and mentor what direction I was taking my blog. Besides working for RueLaLa you can find Joelle selling tees with inspiring messages on her site.
Recently I have been reminded of the importance of being reminded of Scripture and things that inspire me throughout the whole day. And what better what way to do just that than by having an inspirational and pretty background on your phone. So I began to work on it. And here is the outcome: 5 different backgrounds for your phone you can choose between. Just save your favorite to your phone and use it as home screen or lock screen. Hope you will be just as inspired by them as I am myself.
For me one of most important things when it comes to starting the year right is having a great planner. That’s how I knew I had found THE planner when I stumbled upon the company Horacio Printing and their Heavenly Planner. Not only is it a great planner with place for note and a overview on each month(something I value highly), but the vision behind the planner is amazing. That means the planner also has Bible verses on its pages and pages for heart checks and goal setting. Everything you could ever want all in one planner.
I am reminded of our human nature every single day. Our striving for looking our best, looking like we are succeeding in life and living our dream out. We constantly try to look our best on social media. To showcase our best and most curated version of ourselves. The stories behind our accomplishments and every day life, all the tears that has been shedding, all the angry words that has been sad rarely make it to social media. And it is not only applicable for social media. In our real life we do the same. We try to make a good impression on those around us by being happy and being our best.
Sometimes God calls people to do very ‘unglamorous’ things. For instance the prophets. They were called to preach the words God spoke to them and it was often words about repentance and the bad things that would happen if people did not turn away from their wicked ways and turn their hearts back to God. A glamorous job to tell people these often welcomed words? No. And indeed those words were not welcomed. Often the prophets were mocked and looked down on.
So often we will meet lies. They are everywhere. Lies on social media about what a good life is supposed to look like, lies in advertisements about how we need to look a certain way or have a significant other in order to feel and be loved, lies from the enemy of God about who we are and the truth God speaks through the Bible. That is why it is so important to know the truth – to know Scripture. Not only to read it, but to fully know it and have it stored in our hearts and ultimately living it out. We cannot combat lies with a truth we don’t know. As this quote from Christine Caine says so well:
“The truth will set you free, but only the truth that you know.”
Let’s be people who know the truth. The truth that comes from God and God’s word (=the Bible).
Reading the Bible regularly is something that is a high priority of mine. Sometimes it can just be so hard to figure where to read and how to read it, because if you just read through a verse or book from beginning to end it can be hard to remember and process what you just read. That’s at least what I have experienced multiple times. And that’s when the Bible can begin to seem irrelevant or boring.
A little less than 2000 years ago an innocent man was crucified. Three days after the crucifixion He rose again. The impossible was made possible by this man. Here is some of the reasons why I believe with all of my heart that the resurrection took place-not just in a figurative way but very literally:
One of my goals for this year is getting more receptive to the voice of God. Often I have such a hard time just listening to God’s voice, because I am so used to getting things done quickly and if things do not happen in my timing, I will start doing something else. This is what the society tells us all the time. I just want to take time and listen. His voice might sound like a whisper at first, but once you get to know Him and His voice it will be much more clear.Read More
Today’s post is written by one of my dear friends Christina. I met her on a missions trip to Malaga, Spain this past summer. She is truly one of a kind. The fact that she is able to make banana pancakes with closed eyes says it all-believe me, I have seen it myself 😉 I have not met many people who have such a fierce love for the Lord as Christina has. One of the things she is really passionate talking about is putting Jesus first and how much Jesus means to her. So take a look at what she has to say. She sure got something on her heart.
